FREEDOM OF DISORDER

The other day I came across an adage which I believe will never forget for a lifetime, quoted by G.K.Chesterton that says
"Democracy means government by the uneducated, while aristocracy means government by the badly educated.”
It got me baffled for minute, putting me to think as to which state we civil animals belong to?? A democratic nation sounds so much like a state with a deaf leader followed by blind supporters while on the other hand An Aristocratic state sounds so much like a bald man proudly flaunting his comb in front of unrefined populace.
Don’t you think there’s a bit of both within us, MUMBAIKARS??? On one hand we proudly flaunt our independence while on the other hand we are negligent about our fundamental rights entitled to. Are we even aware of the fundamental rights, except for freedom of speech or freedom of equality????
I hereby, salute our ignorance and audacity to mold our fundamental rights according to our ease….The fact is we do not have 6 fundamental rights but 7….Seventh being the “FREEDOM OF DISORDER”…Wonder how and when was it initiated but its being pursued religiously and candidly by all.
We litter, we break rules, we do things we know we are not supposed to, and if questioned and corrected we exclaim it to be our fundamental right….How true, its our so called Seventh fundamental right that is the “FREEDOM TO DISORDER”
Well am sure, most of us MUMBAIKARS must be wondering what are the benefits we reap from this seventh fundamental right…well many actually like:-

• Right to spit anywhere as per our convenience

• Right to break traffic rules

• Right to litter or dump garbage anywhere as per our convenience no matter if we have respective bins around.

• Right to jump the queue

• Right to urinate on public property. Again as per our convenience.

• And many other privileges that adds to bringing about disorder in Mumbai, making it much a better place live.

How incredibly exciting, is’nt it MUMBAIKARs????? Am loving it already and so are you.

Its all about BEING an URBANE HUMAN and not just a human.

City of Civil Animals?????????

Monday morning blues again….Its the start of a new week, a new Monday, a new morning with nothing new in it…The start of the new mornings with packed and rigid routines. The same old enervated wake- ups with eyes wide open but the me within me still fast asleep. I feel myself split into two, a part of me which entices me to stay connected with my dreams and a part of me which struggles to wake me up and get all set for work.

Now is the start of a new battle, a battle to get inside our respective trains swarming with fellow MUMBAIKARS, all battling to reach work on time, then begins a new war for the seats. Talking about getting in and out of the train, its ironical but every cultured MUMBAIKAR becomes a brutal brut because every one prefers getting in and out of the train at the same time from the same entrance irrespective of two entrances which could else help divert the unnecessary menace. A minute space can work wonders, in fact I should call it heavenly. Getting hold of a place to sit makes me feel so triumphant……I feel like untamed civilian every morning and every evening while returning from work…..I wonder where have my manners died, not only me, but where have our manners died ,MUMBAIKARS???

Everyday this little battles and struggles reminds me of the much told and heard tale of two goats trying to cross the bridge which was too narrow ( allowing only one to cross at a time) from opposite ends. Its funny but these two goats were civil enough to let each other cross the bridge, while one of them sits and waits patiently for the other to cross by moving over him. Commemorating about them I really wonder, Where have our manners died, MUMBAIKARS?? Why are these untamed beings behaving tamed and we the tamed behaving untamed… If they can why can’t we. I often feel like a civil animal living amongst other civil animals……..

So, When do you think we’ll be TAMED my fellow MUMBAIKARS???????.. Mumbai’s still waiting..

Where's The CITY OF DREAMS???????

Every sunup I breathe it, every night I dream it….. I feel it in my veins, I feel it in my soul, it’s the city I live in and I live for..Its the city which has a heart for every soul..Some say it’s a MYTH but I call it
“Mumbai-The city of dreams.”The city which is believed to grant every dream come true. The city where every mortal proudly labels itself as a MUMBAIKAR..

But of late, I ponder, does the city of dreams really stand by its name or is it that we MUMBAIKARS have forgotten the civic ways to lead life. Or is it that the lessons of Discipline, obedience, cleanliness, etc all exists within our homes, offices, schools, colleges, workplaces, etc. We are never charged fines or sued for messing our houses or office premises yet we are urbane enough to guard our foul habits. Unfortunately, this is short lived until the time we are out of our respective homes and workplaces.

It’s a pity, but I often hear people grumble “Mumbai is no more a place to live”. Getting to the core of the question we all have the answer to the question. Its ironic, but we all know the reason and the solution to the much nagged statement about Mumbai, which we all Mumbaikars deliberately overlook.

Nobody can deny the fact that Mumbai’s growing filthier and dirty day by day despite of the fact that around 77% of people residing in Mumbai are literate….SAD BUT TRUE.

My question arises again to all the Mumbaikars, for how long are we going to stay BLIND and DUMB????

When shall we start taking actions on our misdeeds MUMBAI??

So Mumbaikars WHERE”S OUR CITY OF DREAMS????????
